The Tema Women’s Hospital was established in April 1996 under the visionary leadership of Dr Paul Owusu Baah, with the aim of providing health care with dignity.
The hospital provides services in obstetrics and gynaecology as well as general clinic for both in patient and out patient in a relaxed, caring and supportive environment.
In 1999, Dr. Paul Owusu Baah, after working in Ghana for some years , realized the need for a fertility services in the hospital, hence the birth of the In Vitro fertilization (IVF) Unit. Since then, the unit has combined professinal care and meticulous laboratory techniques which has resulted in high pregnancy rates for couples who present with infertility problems.
The IVF unit of the hospital provides a wide range of infertility services and specialist gynecological services in a relaxed, caring and supportive environment. In 1999, Dr. Paul Owusu Baah after working for some years, realized that a fertility unit would be an integral part in the treatment of patients hence the birth of our IVF unit. Since then, the unit has combined professional care and meticulous laboratory techniques which have resulted in high pregnancy rate for couples who present with infertility problems.
The Tema Womens Hospital laboratory employs only fully trained personnel and offers a comprehensive test and services. The laboratory is equiped with some of the latest computers and instruments for quick and accurate inpatient and outpatient diagnoses.
The department strives to to accurately and efficiently perform physician -ordered test and rapidly provide clear and timely report. This department is committed to accuracy and efficient in providing test results and in addition has good relations with the major clinics and hospitals in Accra and Tema.
A "clinical pregnancy" has a pregnancy sac seen in the uterus on ultrasound exam.
The "live birth rate" is the percentage of all IVF cycles that lead to a live birth. This rate does not include miscarriage or still birth and multiple-order births such as twins and triplets are counted as one pregnancy.
