The aim of Dexeus Woman’s Health is to provide care for women’s health in all stages of life as well as a comprehensive and efficient response to her needs. Our new centre has been designed to include all of the services while also offering greater comfort and more personalised attention. This concept is the result of years of renowned experience with the most advanced technologies and methods and the interest of a human team that is close to the patient, aware of her needs and knows how to provide assistance at all times.
Our department was set up in 1935 by Santiago Dexeus Font (1897-1973) to provide care for patients needing obstetric and gynaecological treatment in a hospital environment.
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproduction is currently made up of prestigious specialists (60 doctors, 20 biologists and 14 technicians). They share a commitment to offering high quality medical treatment through the teamwork of leading experts who use the most advanced medical techniques available. They are also actively involved in teaching and research.
Several specialised units provide a wide range of healthcare treatments under the supervision of professionals with great national and international reputation, both as authors (50 books and 1,340 chapters and papers in scientific journals published to date) and as participants in various scientific forums and conferences.
In 1989, the Spanish Ministry for Health granted us teaching hospital status so we are able to take in residents who wish to qualify under the official MIR examination system. The Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona has awarded us the status of university institute.

Woman’s Health Dexeus, the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproductive at Hospital Universitari Quirón Dexeus, offers all of its services and benefits at a single location. It is one of the largest and most specialised woman’s health centres in Europe.
The facilities have been designed to provide more personalised, rapid and convenient care by means of a centralized circuit for diagnoses, treatments, visits and operations. The centre has three floors for the six areas of the department: consulting rooms, additional tests, laboratories, management and administration, paramedical services and general services.
The building is located in a former psychiatric centre in the Les Corts district in Barcelona, near Avenida Diagonal. The Neoclassical façade of the former centre, as well as its garden, have been preserved.
The Centre for Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproduction of Women’s Health Dexeus was given the administrative authorisation of the Department of Health of Generalitat de Catalunya, official Spanish body with competence to authorise the operation and quality of the health care and tissue bank centres of the country.
This organism bases its criteria on the European Directives and on the Spanish Law.
Moreover, the ISO 9001 accreditation for all activities related obstetrics, gynaecology, reproduction and training of our centre and the UNE 179007 accreditation for Assisted Reproduction laboratories have been updated in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Our laboratory for Assisted Reproduction has been the first one in Spain to be accredited by the UNE 179007 quality standard.
The European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) awarded the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Reproduction Medicine of University Hospital Quirón Dexeus as European Training Centre in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

An opportunity to live your pregnancy
We guarantee the best success rates with the most thorough donor screening.
What is the Egg Donation?
In Vitro fertilisation (IVF) using donor egg is an assisted reproduction technique that makes possible to inseminate the eggs of a donor with the semen of the partner of the recipient, or that of a donor, and to obtain embryos that can be transferred to the uterus of the future mother.
The Egg Donation process
1 Your gynaecologist will assess your medical history and will guide you to take the next steps.
2 Our Egg Donation programme guarantees you a rigorous screening of all our donors.
3 You have the guarantee that the donor will have physical characteristics similar to yours.
4 Hormone treatment to ensure that the maximum number of oocytes is obtained. Alternatively, eggs from the donor bank can be assigned. The recipient will start with the hormone replacement therapy in order to prepare the endometrium.
5 Oocytes are retrieved through a transvaginal follicular puncture.
6 To make sure that we select the spermatozoon with the best mobility.
7 Eggs are inseminated on the lab and the ones that have been fecundated have a time of growth between 2 and 5 days.
8 The embryos are deposited inside the uterus. It’s a simple procedure with no anaesthesia.

A "clinical pregnancy" has a pregnancy sac seen in the uterus on ultrasound exam.
The "live birth rate" is the percentage of all IVF cycles that lead to a live birth. This rate does not include miscarriage or still birth and multiple-order births such as twins and triplets are counted as one pregnancy.
